Getting Network Information: Windows 2000/XP
-
Open up the "Run" command from the Start menu.

-
Type "cmd" into the "Open" box.

-
You will get a black window. Type in "ipconfig/release" and hit Enter. When
that completes, type in "ipconfig/renew" and hit Enter.

-
Type in "ipconfig/all" and then get a piece of paper and a pencil to write
some information down.

- Write down the Physical Address, the IP Address, and whether or not DHCP is enabled. This information will be needed by the IT Support Desk if you call them. This information can also be useful if you are going through the troubleshooting pages yourself.
